| There is variety of stuff to see along the way. Did it with wife and a dog and had a blast. Looks like the trail keep going but we were running out of time. Next time we'll continue on. park on Portobella (?) drive and walk to the trail head. Will do it again. | ||

| A nice little hike with some steeper roadways coming back than I expected. Fun to run down. I would try to keep my momentum going to carry me up the next hill, but would usually have to walk the second half. | |

| Easily 100 times, probably close to 200. Easy after-work hike. Trained here for Aconcagua and carried 5-gallon jugs of water to the summit training for Denali. Beats the crowds on Cowles any day... | |

| Started at the Old Mission Dam and was pleasantly surprised at the water flowing through Oak Canyon. Nice weather and nice views made for a fun 6 mile after work outing. Didn't expect to see a summit register on N. Fortuna (NW bump). | |

| Started at Calle de Vida. Backtracked a few trails in order to find the one to the Fortuna Saddle. Ran down on rocky north rim trail past North Fortuna summit. Everything is very green now. Nice afternoon run. | |

| A nice lunch break hike. Took a little longer than I expected because for some reason I decided to pass on the little trailmaps available at the trailhead and ended up on the longer trail heading around the northside of the mountain instead of straight up the east side as I had planned. The criss-crossing trails can be confusing if it's your first time at the park so grab a trail map. I backtracked my way up through Oak Canyon, crossing the stream, climbing to the Saddle and finally reaching the summit in fairly good time considering. It was a pretty crappy day, foggy and the views were minimal, but overall it was a fun little hike. The water was flowing good through the canyon due to recent rain so the falls were enjoyable. | Nice training loop: park at Jackson, hike ridge trail north of Suycott Wash to ascend north side of North Fortuna, descend to saddle, ascend South Fortuna, return to car either via Oak Canyon and trail along Junipero Serra, or head directly down SW ridge trail from South Fortuna. A world apart from the Golfcrest zoo over at Cowles! | |

| From start to finish, the hike took 2 hours. Suprisingly, this was the first time I hiked this mountain. Great mid-week training potential due to it being only a 20-30 minute drive from just about anywhere in San Diego. Looking southeast towards Cowles Mountain, I wonder if there is a trail that connects these two peaks? | |

| It was interesting to see this area after the wildfires of 2003. Everything is starting to grow back and there was lots of water coming of the mountain from the wet winter. | |
