| mrchad9 | East Ridge (Chute) ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 16, 2013 | |
| Well it isn't the East Ridge at all really, rather a chute on the south side of the East Ridge. Still a great outing... perhaps my favorite valley in the Sierra! Easy route up to Upper Horton Lakes with more of a use trail than I expected. Fun climbing up to the ridge and then over to the highpoint to the south. Seems like a lot of people don't bother to visit the actual summit. Hmmmmmmmmm...... Still had time to swing by Point 12808, my favorite unnamed peak in the Sierra, before heading out. Love the view of it from down the valley. Took the NE Chute down and then back to the trailhead. | ||

| calipidder | Made up a route from Steelhead Lake ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 27, 2010 | |
| Camped at Steelhead and started up towards Steelhead Pass in the morning. Decided once we got closer instead to take a steep talusy chute straight up to the plateau. This chute ended up being really loose and steep, so on the way down we took Steelhead Pass. Supposed to be class 2 but I think we chose the wrong line and ended up in some low class 3. Last summit of a week of peak bagging - I'm just about done with talus for a while. Oh who am I kidding, I'm going back tomorrow. | ||

| copeg | From Desolation lake ![]() | |
| Took the easy way up from Desolation Lake. The only hard part was a little bushwacking a little ways above the lake. High winds on the top forced us down early, but the views were amazing. | ||

| steve_hiebert | South slope starting L Lake ![]() Date Climbed: Aug 19, 2007 | |
| From a high camp at L Lake, crossed Steelhead Pass to access the south slope. Very windy up high. Found the correct summit on only my second attempt of several high spots. Nice view over to Mt. Tom. | ||

| Four Gables-Pilot Knob dayhike out of North Lake--a long and thoroughly enjoyable tour of Humphreys Basin. Climbed Peak 12,801 by mistake before following the South Ridge to the lower named point and the summit register. (I'm not the only one to make this mistake--the summit register spent several years on Peak 12,801 before being relocated recently). Views are better from Peak 12,801 than Four Gables, and it's a nice scramble along the ridge too, so I don't regret the mistake... | ||

| PellucidWombat | Route Climbed: South Ridge, descended East Ridge Date Climbed: August 3rd, 2004 ![]() | |
| An easy stroll from South Basin Mountain. The East Ridge could be an enjoyable route to climb up with some snow cover. I still don't understand why the official summit with the register is lower than two other nearby points that are higher. Also, from the valley it only looks like one gable - the rest of the ridge just rolls like a wave. Go figure :-) | ||
