Unique summit just waiting for you

I try to write about unvisited and unwritten goals, but the other reports are years ago so here's something from yesterday's visit. The road to the parking lot is 24% grade, but very short. The trail to the summit is 3.25 miles one-way and is easy to follow. Eight-foot high sunflowers and bison are here, along with very pretty rocks of all colors. Each car pays $9 to drive on the causeway to the island. Off season now, little to buy there except pictures and books, so bring provisions. The lake had at least 5000 birds to see. At 1700 square miles, the water looks like an ocean in places. Unbelievable length of Wasatch Front mountains to the east, including downtown Salt Lake City can be seen.

Make sure you see

The Fielding Garr Ranch is at the southeast end of the road. Old machines and tools are just sitting in old buildings for you to see.
