From northern slope...

A stone of rumburk granite with characteristc blue crystals of sapphire quartz. This specimen was collected on the north slope of Smrek Mt., Izerskie Mts,Poland; August 4, 2008. Probably all the north part of this mountain is composed of such a rock. In this area there is a metamorphic contact between granite and adjacent schists and gneisses.
