Fruits and Seeds of Fireweed
Fireweed - Latin name : Chamaenerion angustifolium – Polish : Wierzbówka kiprzyca. Some botanists call this perennial also Epilobium angustifolium. In Poland it occurs in open woods and along streams. It blooms from June to September and can reach height up to even 1.5 meters. Wild animals do not eat mature fireweed.
This photo was taken by my wife near Mount Woltuszowska in the Low Beskid – August 28, 2008.
