Fryingpan Glacier

Fryingpan Glacier

Hiking up the Summerland Trail, along the Fryingpan Creek, we started to see glimpses of Mount Rainier after 3 miles then the clouds moved in. We had peek-a-boo views from then on ): The waters from melt-off of Fryingpan Glacier flow into Fryingpan Creek then into the White River and onto the Puget Sound. Rainier National Park, 8/11/08.

The view of Fryingpan

Glacier is one of my personal favorites, as it
spills off the east face of Little Tahoma.

Summerland is a great place to find berries
and bears. Have you been finding lots of
huckleberries this year?? Awesome. Regards!

Re: The view of Fryingpan

I fear we may have slim pickin's for the mountain blueberries and huckleberries this year! Everything is late in the high country! Late flowers, late berries! We had snow in the mountains the past couple of days! I will be up in the mountains looking for berries this weekend. Wish me luck!
Cheers, Trina
