Gaining the NW ridge on Tocllaraju | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
The most tricky part on climbing Tocllaraju was getting onto the northwest ridge. There were a couple of steep sections and a bergschrund or two to negotiate.
Normally, climbers have to pass here in the dark, but because we hadn't heard our alarm, we were late. As it turned out, that wasn't a bad thing. It wasn't as cold as during the early hours in darkness, the weather was nice, and as a bonus I could take pictures of what we were doing!

Hasn't voted | We had planned to start climbing around first light, much later than everybody else, and adding to that, we overslept more than an hour. Imagine that, oversleeping at 5200m!
But it all came together beautifully during the climb, and we got to see stuff like this :-). | | Posted Feb 1, 2013 5:33 am |
