visit to Latvia  Sucess!

Nice visit to this quiet place, with a nice landscape all around.

The final "hike" to the top is nice

Sunny summer day  Sucess!

The closest bus stop I could find was at Berzaune, so I started hiking from there. Lots of signs all the way, virtually impossible to get lost. At first, the dirt road isn't scenic, but it gets better later on. Nobody else around.

Winter  Sucess!

I'm glad I went there in winter time otherwise would be awful to walk so many kilometers on asphalt. It was nice that the roads were covered with snow and ice. Obviously hitchhiking is not so popular here so I had to walk almost all the way from Saileskalns to Gaizinkalns. The tower is destroyed, one of the locals told me that the government is about to build a new one as a tourist attraction. I don't know if the summit stone is still there cause I couldn't find it - may it was just under the snow.

At last!  Sucess!

Well, quiet funny, but it was the first time I've visited my country's highpoint :) It was a nice 25 km walk from Berzaune town and back.
