| The North Ridge route is the route of the first ascent of Gap Mtn, by R. Mitchell solo via North Ridge in August 1977. Fun ridge route with mostly low fifth class climbing (5.2 to 5.4) with the crux step at 5.5 or 5.6. About 8 pitches of climbing. Great time with my buddy Ian Hunt. | |

| Nice scramble overall. Short approach and fun scrambling. I noticed a bolt at the far end of the traverse. I've seen pitons on scrambles before but never a bolt. Interesting. | |

| A somewhat overcast day, with rain showers on the west side of Kananaskis Lake. The slab "crux" isn't nearly as bad as Alan Kane makes it out to be. It can also be avoided by scrambling straight up and then over. | |

| What a scramble. The views towards kananaskis lakes and Joffre are amazing. Plus this scramble offers some short bits of exposure which adds some spice to the day. | |

| Excellent day with Parisa, it was her first day in the Rockies and we enjoyed the nice views in a warm afternoon. One of those scrambles I wouldn't mind doing over and over again... pleasant! | |

| Great scramble for an afternoon. There is one 5m exposed portion a quarter of the way up, but there are big steps and hand holds to ease the traverse. Otherwise, boulder hiking to the top. | |

| Very exciting scramble with a mind-blowing view. Since the approach is so short, it's appropriate for lazy days - we had such perfect weather, we still had time to lounge on the summit for a whole hour absorbing the sights! Highly recommended trip. | |

| We observed two sets of sheep this day, one group of six larger rams right on our trail and another mixed set 100 meters off. We observed bear and moose feces on the animal trails we utilized on the way up. We also had a great display of spring flowers, Alpine Forget-me-nots (my favorite), Wild Strawberries, Glacier Lilies, Wild Crocus and Stone Crop. We had a wet May-June in 2004 and therefore too much snow had hung onto dangerous sections of the route so my partner remained at the col and took some good route photos. We had a semi stormy day, so visibility was not stellar, but one could still observe Joffre, Assiniboine and Sir Douglas, not to mention the Kananaskis Lakes below. Elpoca was shedding rock consistently during our visit and Pocaterra was still covered in ice and snow giving us some avalanche displays as well. Enjoy! | |
