Garf, Grizz, and ‘Ray  Sucess!

Clockwise Garfield, Grizzly, and Ouray. The stretch from Grizz to Ouray is pretty good, interesting class 3, particularly the chossy lumpy formations that stretch to the saddle on both sides. Go as far as you can, then exit stage north into a little chute, stay right and it goes. With Matt.

From Grizzly  Sucess!

Climbed Grizzly first from McNasser Gulch. 4.5 hours RT. Lots of scree surfing on the way down, but still a good day. Views of the Elks were nice.

From Grizzly  Sucess!

USGS topos fail to depict just how gnarly the ridge from Garfield to Red Mtn is. I had hoped to continue along the ridge but was stopped by vertical towers and extremely loose scree slopes below them.

from grizzly  Sucess!

jamie, mike, steve and i cruised over to garfield after climbing grizzly. our descent glissade BLEW! we got too far south and chose a route which dropped into a place we didn't want to be, and couldn't see from the top. tedious, slow process getting through this section. from there we cruised down.

Via Grizzly  Sucess!

Climbed with shanahan96, jamie nellis and stevets689 after ascending Grizzly. Descended the SW slopes, but probably should have backtracked closer to Grizzly before dropping because we saw a much nicer route on our way back out the road.
