Fantatstic job on the rework of this page, great current information, historical data, culture, photos, everything. Sad to hear about Concordia being trashed.
As for Gondogoro being the world's highest pass, I'll throw Sherpani and West Cols into the hat, both right at 6,000m, located between Makau BC and the Hongu Valley. :)
Thanks Corax for another fantastic page (rework) which is now a REAL source of all the important information one needs when going there! And fantastic shots as well!
A great mountain in a great area. It's the place to go if you want to see many of the 8000ers at the same time. Four of them in the same spot, plus a couple of those just below this magic limit.
Sherpa community in Darjeeling - no clue. Haven't been there.
Difficulties en route - better ask damien g about that. i was only up to C1 on the yugoslavian route and had no intention to go further.
I can't as I have only been to the foot of it and seen it from below. I hope someone else who has more info about the route will post something about it soon.
If you need specifics right now you can ask Damien Gildea.
Yes, I remember that story well.
Perhaps Leila wants to put up some route pages for the high Pakistani peaks here on SP.
Wish her the best of luck from me!

Yes, it was quite sad to see all the garbage and you really had to watch your step...there are "toilets" everywhere.
When I asked some persons in charge of the place, they told me there were big clean-ups after the season every year.
I doubt it a bit though, because there were a lot of old rusty cans a all over the place.
:-(

QuestionsExcellent overall page. 2 questions-
* Is there a substantial Sherpa community in Darjeeling (1936 note)?
* What are the difficulties encountered on the routes (or at least the standard route)?
