Giant mushroom

Giant mushroom
This is one of the giant mushrooms we saw in the Flat Tops on August 18 2007. My son Kessler's hand in on the mushroom for scale. I think this is the biggest mushroom I've seen. It was the size of a small watermelon.

Or the worms got to it first?

I finally got out on the season's first shroom picking trip, hopping across deadwood and crossing swamps on crutches, but just got a handful of small Russula and Lactarius. Just wish for something like you spotted :)

Nope, didn't pick any. I let my son pick one small one, but the others we left. I have no idea which are edible or not.
