Giraffe and Mount Meru. One thing you won't see on Kilimanjaro but you will at Mount Meru is wildlife (well beyond army ants). I saw giraffe, elephants, cape buffalo, zebra, baboons, monkeys, and warthogs among other animals during my Mount Meru trip. January 19, 2002.

Yes, John Wayne and the rest of the movie's cast set their headquarters at Momella Lodge (a short distance away from Momella Gate) while shooting "Hatari!" in the sixties
