I once tried to slog up to the hanging valley in the summer with tons of loose scree. It is really steep. I never made it up to the headwall.

We climbed to within a few hundred feet of the summit. After the hanging valley, it was third class rock covered with corn snow. It was incredibly dangerous. We were prepared to deal with all kinds of rocks and ice, but not corn snow on steep rock. After a few hundred feet of that we turned around. I don't know how made it down without an accident!
