Glacial Lake?

Glacial Lake?

There is no glacier here (there were glaciers in this basin thousands of years ago), but a permanent snowfield is adjacent to the lake. Perhaps ice beneath the snowfield creates glacier-like action that gives the lake its color. No other lake in the vicinity is colored this way. The peak visible is part of the Dutchman Peak complex, but Dutchman itself is not visible. This is from the basin east of Hilgard Peak and Dutchman Peak. Madison Range, MT-- July 2012
