Phenomenal peak  Sucess!

Spent a weekend up in the Pioneers and walked up this Saturday and Duncan Sunday. For the 'main crest' peaks, this one (excluding Florian's Nudl) is probably the trickiest. Although not all that bad, once you get on the correct side of the ridge. As with all of these peaks you're unlikely to see anyone else and the views are great.

Cool basin  Sucess!

Nice views from the top but the approach through the valley might have even been better.

Another party??  Sucess!

We wanted to spend a couple nights in the remote basin south of Goat. Right after we settled on a spot a party of 5 came up behind us we just couldn't believe it. The 2 North Fork Hyndman basins see only a handful of visitors each year, and this was a weekday! When we set out in the morning, as soon as we passed their camp they started off toward Goat directly beside us. Generally if you climb any Idaho peak other than Borah and Hyndman you are guaranteed to have it to yourself. This was quite a coincidence.

We let them get ahead and went to check out the spires along the Goat/Duncan saddle. Two of us climbed Florians Nudl from the west without ropes. The exposure was moderate, but once at the top I took one look at the final refridgerator-sized rock and said "Nope"- since climbing it meant deadly exposure on the north side. My much bolder brother-in-law (I'm afraid of heights) stood atop it and jumped off to the adjacent rock to descent. I'm not recommending any of this, but that's our tale.

It's a hike  Sucess!

Came from Corral Creek second time around. Made for a very long day. Didn't see anyone all day and got back way late. Still no goats to be seen

First ascent August 10, 2013. This is a long approach but it's absolutely worth it. Did not see any goats but there were signs that they had been there recently.

With Mike and Mark  Sucess!

One of my favorite climbs period. Awesome hike up the valley, then a great scramble to the summit.

Amazing  Sucess!

What an amazing place. we climbed this from a base camp in the north fork of Hyndman creek. the final sustained climbing is one of the best scrambles in the state.

South Slopes  Sucess!

Long but beautiful fall day in the Pioneers. Great scenery along the way, fun ridge traverse to finish off the climb. Highly recommended. Trip Report

long hike  Sucess!

pretty darn long hike. The ridge traverse was quite fun. Great route finding by Splattski on the traverse. There was not any snow on the traverse

Route Climbed: Southern Slopes Date Climbed: October26th/05  Sucess!

A very long but absolutely gorgeous climb. The traverse between the two summits was tricky due to some snow left over from a few weeks before. But so far, one of my favorite climbs.
