Middle summit highest?  Sucess!

Was looking for a hike that looked into Mt. St. Helens. This fit the bill. Took trail from Ryan Lake, scrambled from saddle to Middle Goat. Sounds like the true summit is unsettled. I stopped at Middle because my trusty reference (Google Earth Pro) showed Middle as 20 feet higher than West.

East ridge  Sucess!

I did this one as an easyish re-conditioner after a few weeks down with poison oak. I was extremely impressed with the views! Much better than I had expected. After the first 2+ miles of switchbacks, the trail opens up at the ridgeline and the views in all directions are spectacular. I'll be back here with the kids at some point, I'm sure! The down side is I wore a pair of brand new boots and wound up with some painful blisters. Great little hike though, I even enjoyed the brief scramble at the top.

East Then Middle Then West  Sucess!

With low clouds and some light drizzle, the weather did not cooperate very well. The west peak is interesting because during the approach it has a steep cliff face, but the summit itself is like a brushy mesa. Fun trip.

Two More Goats  Sucess!

Visited the two main summits of Goat. Good weather and a great hike with Bob B.. Rainier, Adams, Hood, and St. Helens, all standing out around us. Still 4 feet of snow in the sheltered areas along the ridge. Road 26 is closed between Ryan Lake and Road 99. WA P2k 67/144

Trail and Both Summits  Sucess!

I did this one on a yucky November day. Rainy and terrible visibility but when you can visit a peak or two this time of year you have to view it as a success no matter the weather.

The trail  Sucess!

Enjoyed this great hike with Dean. Unfortunately the clouds really never cleared up, but at least we stayed dry. Would have enjoyed better views of the north side of St. Helens.

The trail  Sucess!

Sp'er Bob Bolton and I were hoping for clearing skies so we could see the view into St. Helens crater but alas it was not to be. Still, a great hike. We came in via Road 26 from Randle since the other access roads are still blocked by snow.
