goat trail to Redgap Pass

goat trail to Redgap Pass

This is clearly the correct place to access the goat trail to Redgap Pass. After reaching the first large notch in the wall to the northeast of Ptarmigan Tunnel, traverse northward until reaching this point. Head to the east on the fantastic goat trail, which is very well-worn thanks to the incredible engineering of Glacier NP's iconic mountain goats. The goat trail features a fair amount of exposure, but generally speaking, I felt quite safe and secure along its entire length. From here, Redgap Pass can be reached in approximately one half hour. Seward Mountain (8,917 ft.) is the large red peak to the left, with Redgap Pass (7,520 ft.) below and to the right. July 30, 2009
