Golden plover

Golden plover

Golden plover on the slopes of Haalda. I thought I had made friends with this little guy as he kept peeping at me (you can see in the photo, I caught him in mid-peep) and following me on the trail. But, on my return hike down the trail, I ran into him/her again and discovered it was actually trying to distract me and lead me away from a small chick that was camouflaged so well, it was almost invisible. Score: Crafty Icelandic Bird 1 - Brian 0.

Birds 2, SP 0

A golden plover did the exact same thing to me on top of Ingolfsfjall, and I was too stupid to figure out what was going on. Next time!

Re: Birds 2, SP 0

Very cool birds! I've also been had by a grouse that flopped down a mountainside in front of me leading me away from its nest.
