Goldfields at Dawn

Goldfields at Dawn

There's gold in them thar hills ... The sunlit Goldfield Mountains are one of Arizona’s least-known scenic treasures. Born of the fires of ancient volcanoes, they are a rugged and colorful Sonoran desert wilderness, offering advanced hiking opportunities to challenge and reward the outdoor enthusiast. Small stringers of quartz that were caused by epithermal and hydrothermal action intruded the rocks in the Goldfield area. These small veins carry small quantities of gold. This is Peak 2379' in the Goldfields, looking north from Lost Dutchman State Park. After April 1st, be very diligent of the legendary 8-foot long rattlesnakes that reputedly guard the gold!
