Hike in the spirit of Frank  Sucess!

Was honored to have co-led HPS hikes with Frank. His great sense of humor kept the group going in sleet and snow, no matter how arduous the hike. This summit was a lovely choice for his namesake. When you hike it, wish him well.

PV Ridge 5 peak day  Sucess!

Final peak of the day, found a faint trail coming down from Williamson that leads across and then down a ridge to the saddle towards Goodykoontz...took the super steep talus scree down to Burkhart Trail to make it a 5 peak loop.

5 peak day  Sucess!

5 peak out and back hitting Mt. Williamson, Goodykoontz Peak, Pallett Mountain, Will Thrall, and Pleasant View Ridge (Pallett BM). I couldn't find the use-trail leading to Goodykoontz from bump 8160' so I just climbed down the (rather steep) slope towards the ridge. Once on the ridge, the route is rather clear and is even marked with orange blazes that looked pretty fresh.

If you're heading to Pallett after Goodykoontz, there is something of a trail starting from the Goodykoontz/8160' saddle that runs parallel to and eventually crosses a small branch of Little Rock Creek, which had a decent flow going on. At the crossing, another faint trail climbs up to a saddle where it meets the main use trail running between Williamson and Pallet. This option was clearly preferable to climbing back up to bump 8160' then down again!

Tougher than expected  Sucess!

Ascended via Mt Williamson and descended via a modified Route 2 that stays outside the frog box. The last part was the hardest as traversing the steep hillside of Williamson to remain frog free and get back to the PCT wasn't very much fun. With Coco the Dog.

Fun Ridge Action  Sucess!

With the frog closure, it is a very round-about way to go but still enjoyable. Can be combined, with a car shuttle, for a Pleasant View Ridge loop.

Very Nice Hike!  Sucess!

Took the ridge from Williamson to 8160 then over to Goody, and then out the canyon bottom which is now closed. Hiked this peak right before in was voted to be listed on HPS. Really liked this remote area.
