| Grandfather took me out along the South Rim. Took the train in and saw most of the touristy sights. Amazing place indeed. | ||

| This was my second time into the Canyon and and second time down the New Hance. Despite the dire warnings of this trail, I found it to be pleasant and straightforward...as well as spectacular! My first time was in November of 2005. | ||

| S -> N was so much fun, I decided to hike N -> S the next day instead of taking the shuttle back. Side trip to Ribbon Falls was magical and the highlight of the trip. Did Havasupai as a warm-up hike the preceding day, making for a spectacular ~70-mile 3-day weekend. | ||

| Down the S Kaibab and up the N Kaibab to the N Rim for day 1. Day 2, rest day. Day 3, down to Phantom and up the Bright Angel to the S Rim. Clear weather throughout. Cold on the rims and not too hot at the river. Major crowds and a kind of tense atmosphere going down on the first day. This was the first day the N Rim was open and hordes of testosterone saturated ultra marathoners were making the first R2R of the year. Strange and overly intense folk! One even asked me "did you get a late start?". The nerve of the fellow! Once they were out of the way, however, the Canyon was as lovely and welcoming as ever. 14 Hours S->N and under 12 N->S | ||

| Timed my rim hike to catch the setting full moon and the rising sun lighting up the cliffs. Got some beautiful pic's to share. Temp was 24 degrees and it was breezy, but I had the entire canyon to myself for the better part of two hours. --mark d. | ||

| ncst | Down and up - It's got to be a canyon ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 8, 2009 | |
| On the first day I hiked the S. Kaibab down to Tipoff and back up the same way. On day two, down to Indian Garden on the Bright Angel trail where I pitched my tent and had lunch. I continued down to the river and had a coffee at Phantom Ranch. Went up the S. Kaibab trail up to Tipoff and turned west on the Tonto trail, back to Indian Garden. Back up to the rim the next day. | ||

| stamina | South Kaibab Down-Explored Inner Gorge-Bright Angel Out ![]() Date Climbed: Dec 6, 2006 | |
| Went with my best friends or The Uusual Suspects. The South K down was pretty brutal on the knees, especially the last mile to the CO River. This is like climbing a mountain in reverse, by ruining your knees on the descent, then wondering how in the hell you are going to get out of this huge hole. Stayed down at the Phantom Ranch and explored the Inner Gorge for 2 days. And yes there is beer down there. The hike from the Ranch toward the North Rim to Ribbon Falls (awesome) is a must. Hiked out via The Bright Angel Trail. Great experience and one I want to share again in my life. Beyond beautiful. | ||

| 2008 November 30: My first time hiking in Grand Canyon! Daddy and I went down the Bright Angel trail, just .8 miles round-trip to the first switchback. I was just learning to walk, so Daddy only had to carry me part of the way. | ||

| Words fail me to describe how great (and beautiful) this hike was. It was like nothing I'd ever done before. I'm hoping to return in 2010 and do a rim-to-rim hike. | ||

| The hardest hike I have ever done. We were so unprepared. We didn't have any of the right gear, or enough food, it was so bad. It was beautiful and I would do it again, next time I will be prepared. | ||

| Day 1 - went from the North Rim via the Kaibab trail to the Bright Angel Campground next to Phantom Ranch; spent the night there. Day 2 -took the Bright Angel trail to the south rim, then took the Kaibab trail back to Bright Angel campground, spent a second night there. Day 3 - hiked back to the North Rim. Got very lucky on the weather as the tempertures never exceeded 95F. | ||

| a couple days after my 16th birthday (celebrated on mt charleston) we drove to the north rim of the grand canyon and stayed at the quaint jacobs lake lodge. I took a hike to Cape Final, a wonderful secluded "diving board" of an overlook. saw only a few souls on trail and none at the overlook. took a bit of class 3ish scramblng at the end. i may have ended up at a different spot, but a great view and fun scramble/hike in the end | ||
