Good, Challenging (but not really difficult) hike  Sucess!

Have hiked this five or six times, always up from Mill Creek Canyon. Notes: (1) The top portion from the saddle is deceptively long. (2) The west-facing trail, which I've only downclimbed once, is really tough in its intense decrease in elevation over relatively short distance. I would *not* want to be on that upclimb on any kind of hot day.

FIRST TIME FROM THE WEST  Sucess!

#1 18Aug2011 Have hiked several times from Church Fork TH. First time however from the west. One steep sun-of-a-gun hike.
#2 & #3 March2012 Hiked twice within a weeks time.
#4 16May2013 2hrs50mins up
First Peak to reach since my prostatectomy & lymphadenectomy last year at this time and my retirement in Oct.
The hillsides were ablaze with arrowleaf balsamroot and a mountain bluebird greated me at the top.
The weather was perfect with a cooling breeze near the top and a westerly refreshing me on the way down
#5 06June2013 I spent some time taking pictures and had some difficulties getting energy so it took me 3hr 38min to the top. The flowers on the arrowleaf balsamroot were pretty well spent but the mule's ear took over duty to light up the mountain sides. The sego lily was in its resplendent glory as usual.

Clawed my way to the top  Sucess!

Had a great hike with Kadee, Greg, and their pup. The peak was covered in clouds, so no great views, and it was quite icy in spots, but I was glad to try a new hike.

Fun & Fall Colors  Sucess!

Amazingly live dhere over 7 years and still hadn't been up Grandeur. Intended to go to Thurston, but the gate to Farmington Canyon was closed. Grandeur was a nice backup plan & the fall colors were spectacular. Started early, saw the 8:00 am shadow of the mtn cast across the Salt Lake Valley, and was home for a late breakfast.

Several Options  Sucess!

This is usually one of my first climbs of the spring. There are several routes and it's a good warmup in the early season.

First of Season  Sucess!

Did this a while back with my mom, sister, and her boyfriend. At the time, there was a little snow, but not much. Saw many of the people. To extend the hike ran from the summit down to the entrance of Millcreek Canyon since I was training for my first 14er

Church Fork  Sucess!

Shared summit with winded group of missionary kids in town for the summer and a thin winded man with an Ironman tattoo on his back. The kids had walked. The ironman had run. Warm, beset by flies. A good soak in Church Fork until I was numb helped soothe all afterwards.

No View for Me  Sucess!

Came up the Church Fork trailhead. My girlfriend gave up just shy of the final incline because of the constant postholing. I made the summit, but clouds had rolled in, making the view much shorter than I would have preferred.

I hiked Church Fork up to the saddle with Parleys Canyon, put on snowshoes and continued on to the peak. I met quite a few people AND their dogs. It was a great day for a hike.

West Ridge  Sucess!

A great training climb. Rain / sleet at the bottom, some icy spots mid-mountain, and some deep snow on the ridge. Windy too. Had a 65lb pack on and took about 4 hours, 20 mins round trip. Only saw 2 other people out that day. Fun climb - I'll be back!
