| We did this as a traverse starting from Big Mountain Pass. We hiked to Big Mountain, Swallow Rocks, Grandview Peak, and the Sessions Mountains Ridge Peaks. Then we hiked down to Mueller Park. This was a rewarding hike done in great weather. | ||

| Dean | Long day ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 1, 2011 | |
| From Big Mountain Pass, three of us, SP'ers Imontop, Aldocious, and myself did 18 miles roundtrip on a beautiful fall day. Elevation gain according to my GPS was 4800+ feet for the roundtrip. The last entry in the summit register was Sep 9th. And, I should mention, the views from the summit were indeed grand. | ||

| Pfeiffer75 | Tougher than expected ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 18, 2011 | |
| Started from Rotary Park in City Creek Canyon. The snow made it really difficult along the ridge from Burro Peak to Grandview. Very narrow in places with plenty of moats in the rocks. Carried snow shoes up. Hike ended up being almost 13 miles RT with 5800 feet of elevation change. Many ups and downs. The trail?? to Rudy's Flat is very overgrown in places. Definitely some bushwacking | ||

| ericwillhite | From Big Mountain Pass on GWT ![]() Date Climbed: Nov 7, 2009 | |
| Longer than expected but I wanted to do this ridge traverse in order to grab Swallow Rocks Peak and Swallow Rocks North (elv. 8580) about a mile north of the Swallow Rocks highpoint. Both were nice but doing all 3 was an 8 hour rush with no breaks. Had to be back by 3. Started at 6 a.m. Route map and pictures at http://www.willhiteweb.com/salt_lake_city/grandview_peak/swallow_rocks_005.htm | ||

| 2dirtyshoes | Route Climbed: Great Western from Big Mountain Pass ![]() Date Climbed: Oct 3, 2009 | |
| Started at Big Mountain pass heading west/north along the Great Western trail. New snow from earlier in the week made my progress a little slower than anticipated. Straight forward route to the summit although I could not find a trail on the final approach. Took about 2 hours 20 mins to reach the peak. Instead of doing an out and back I (foolishly) decided to stick to the north ridge of City Creek all the way to Rudy Flat then connect it to the 4wd double track further down the ridge. I finished by coming down the pipeline trail into City Creek canyon. Route finding was very difficult with the new snow, several bushwhack sections made for slow progress and bloody shins. | ||

| apachedino | Via Lookout Peak ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 15, 2008 | |
| Came from Affleck park via lookout, but returned on what I believe is part of the Wasatch 100 route that prevents a need to reascend Lookout. This was a great ropute with only minor bushwalking coming down from Lookout. If Grandview is the only goal the a trail albeit faint in places exists the whole way. The turn off is about 20 yards on the right after a giant whole on the ridge that looks like a collapsed mining claim, just before the ascent of Lookout 1st and largest "false" summit. | ||

| mtn runr | From Memory Grove ![]() Date Climbed: Apr 18, 1987 | |
| We followed the old Wahsatch (sic) Steeplechase Marathon course from Memory Grove to Black Mountain, past Smuggler's Notch, over Lookout Peak, East to The Brink, down to City Creek Pass, up towards the Session Mountains, West to Grandview. Then we went back to City Creek Pass and descended City Creek Canyon back to Memory Grove. Big day. | ||

| rballing | Route Climbed: North Canyon to Rudy's Flat then along ridge Date Climbed: 2/July/2005 ![]() | |
| A long hike along the ridge. Many wildflowers and a few patches of snow along the trail. The trickiest part was getting from Rudy's Flat to the Ridge, straight through thick bushes, but then it was mostly open hiking. | ||

| nebben | Route Climbed: Killyon Canyon & GWT Date Climbed: June 5, 2005 ![]() | |
| I definitely took one of the longer routes to get to the top. The cornices near the GWT are still huge, and I had what might be my first sighting of a crevasse (or maybe there is another name for a small crack in the snow) in the Wasatch. Totally cool. The time on top was windy, but pleasant. I bushwacked down Cottonwood Gulch and jogged down City Creek Canyon. Killyon->top=4 hours Top->CityCreekbottom=2.5 hours | ||

| regehr | Route Climbed: ridge via Rudy's Flat and Burro Peak Date Climbed: 6/6/2004 | |
| Parked at Lower Rotary Park in City Creek Canyon, walked to Rudy's Flat and then followed the trail going up to the ridge. Rudy's flat is a maze of trails but it's not too hard to find the right one. Walked up some snow to Burro Peak (Big Black Mtn?), then had a great time following the rough (and long!) ridge to Grandview. Still plenty of snow left in sheltered locations. At the base of the final rise to the summit we decided to bail -- progress had been slow all day due to one member of the group lagging. Bushwacked down Cottonwood Gulch past some impressive mining equipment to the bottom of CC canyon and then walked down the trail and road to Lower Rotary. Overall an excellent, if unsatisfying, hike. Rugged ridge walking, great views, and didn't see anyone outside the group all day. | ||

| I came within 1/2 mile of the summit, but turned back because of time constraints. Plus, I was tired as hell and my camera broke. No sense in continuing =).. Very good snow, some great powder still. A couple miles of hellish bushwacking after Rotary park. =(. Lots of cougar tracks... | ||

| Parked car along dirt road and walked two miles to start of GWT. Dropped a few hundred feet, re-climbed to Sessions Mountain ridge. Followed obvious track southeast around Grandview and ascended Grandview's east ridge. Not difficult climbing, but long, about 16 miles round-trip. Couldn't verify the "grandness" of the view due to a nearby forest fire polluting the skies. | ||
