Snowshoe from Olympic Village. Great day, less the buttholes of the squaw valley ski patrol.

Main Trail  Sucess!

I was glad to get one more hike in this late in the season without breaking out the snowshoes. Temps were in the low 20's at the start and it was really, really windy. We tried to hit Needle Peak but the winds were way to strong. Hiked with Ol'Walsher. Nice day.

Firehouse Route  Sucess!

Relatively straightforward hike. We got slightly turned around after we passed under the ski lift, but soon reoriented ourselves.

North Ridge  Sucess!

A nice, easy two-fer for the day. Tinker Knob and then Granite Chief out of Squaw Valley. The trail to the PCT meanders quite a bit and then disappears, but the XC is easy. Nice hike, but would be much better without the ski lifts. C2C time: 6 hrs 45 mins.

Fun Hike  Sucess!

Enjoyable dayhike

Main Trail from Firehouse  Sucess!

Clear to the switchbacks on the north slope. A few snow patches, but nothing that would slow one down much. The summit ridge is completely clear all the way to Lyon.

good hike but we lost the trail at a pretty step part below the lift, but later found the trail again

From Squaw Valley  Sucess!

"Granite Chief Peak Open" said the sign at the top of Granite Chief Lift, so I headed up the Buttress Ridge with my snowboard. Found a relatively new register (placed on March 7 by the ski patrol). Signed the log, hung out for about 20 minutes, soaking up the sun and taking in the views. It was like 65 degrees up there!

From the top of the Tram  Sucess!

A pretty easy why to get to the Summit.

I coveted this peak when I saw it from Tinker Knob a few weeks ago - finally came back to summit and enjoy some of Tahoe's new fall colors.

A Cal Completion

Went with Adam Helman and Edward Earl to celebrate Edward's 58th and final California County.

Edit: Later discovered not to the the Placer County HP. Oh well. It still counts as a great climb.

Nice hike. About 6 inches of relatively snow above 8500 feet. Summit register books appeared to be completely full.

This was a very senic hike and a good workout. My dog(Ginger) and I made it to the summit in 21/2 hours. The flys at the summit where very aggressive and I got biten more than once.

An excellent climb in the tahoe area.

Route Climbed: Off Trail from the Firehouse Date Climbed: 16 July 2005  Sucess!

Lots of "going direct" because there's too many freakish trails in this area. Still major snow on the front side of the peak, I climbed combination class 3 rock and semi-steep snow slopes to the top of the Squaw ski lift and then traversed the ridge to the summit.

Route Climbed: North Ridge Date Climbed: Mar 14, 2004  Sucess!

After climbing Tinker Knob a few weeks before, Bob and I came back for some unfinished business. Squaw Valley is a surprisingly pretty area, much more alpine-looking than much of the Tahoe region.
