Did a loop hike of 5.7 miles, coming down the super fun north ridge. We had 2200' of gain, rather than the 1450 advertised because we climbed up a different ridgeline. I uploaded my hike track jpeg for reference.
Nice, sunny day and we all easily drank 3 quarts water due to little shade and hard work bushwhacking. The hike was sufficiently challenging for my group, including one strong 9 year old. This is definitely a hike for long pants; the brush is thick. However, there are game trails to help ease the path through. The descent down the north ridge was great. Only a few people have signed the register (mostly hunters) since its placement in 2006. One guy kayaked across the lake from Irish Creek and climbed the west ridgeline, which looked like a beautiful way to ascend.
Slide Creek Road was in excellent shape, having recently been graded. The side road leading to the parking area has one nasty, deeply rutted section spanning the road, but we were able to sneak the vehicles along the left side, just barely. Remember to bring chilled grapes to celebrate on the summit!
