Route Climbed: Stevens Gulch Trailhead Date Climbed: May 20, 2002  Sucess!

My first combo. Experienced mountain lighting for the first time. Holding hands and feeling the current through the body was exhilarating unitl my head started popping. Number 2 on my list of 14ers. HIked with Uncle Jack, Shane and Trent, and Gawdun

Route Climbed: Chihuahua Gulch Date Climbed: August 13, 2004  Sucess!

Did this and Torreys together via the Chihuahua Gulch TH. Didn't see another person until we reached the summit and saddle. Great day - loved the less traveled route.

Route Climbed: Greys Peak Trail Date Climbed: June 2003  Sucess!

The descent into the saddle and associated ascent onto Torreys are a schlog. Nice views of the couloirs, however.

Route Climbed: Grays Peak trail, main trail Date Climbed: 6/30/04  Sucess!

My cousin and I had three days to acclimate to altitude (we should have had more time), but we made it. Not bad for a couple flatlanders from Ohio. I really enjoyed it and wish I lived closer.

Route Climbed: Stephens Gulch/Grays Peak Trail Date Climbed: 6/25/05  Sucess!

My first 14er. Was a good day over all; good weather and while there were alot of people, I met alot of great ones. Too tired to get Torreys too, guess I'll have to come back with more experience and get Kelso Ridge!

Route Climbed: Kelso Ridge Torrey's Enchainment ; ) Date Climbed: August 2003  Sucess!

I first ticked this one off after ascending Torrey's Kelso Ridge route. It had rained hard that morning so the crowds were refreshingly sparse. Not so on my subsequent trip. We had to deal with a pair of obstinate hikers who didn't see the need to yield to a faster group (us) descending at a jog to escape impending weather. Rather than cause a scene we quietly cut the switchback and continued on our way. Can't really blame them, they were scared and we shouldn't have been there in the first place. We pushed for the 'summit' in zero visibility to make a worthwhile training day out of it rather than turn back early. Why? We'd been on top of Gray's before. Avoid the tourist routes on Colorado 14'ers, train low, climb faster: climb safer.

Route Climbed: Gray Peak Trail Date Climbed: 6/9/05  Sucess!

A beautiful day for climbing allowed for a relatively quick ascent of Gray's followed by Torrey's. The weather was great and the snow held up well the whole trip

Route Climbed: Stevens Gulch: Grays Peak Trail Date Climbed: June 6th 2005  Sucess!

Had a great trip up Grays Peak today. Betsy and I took 3 friends that had never climbed a 14ner. 2 of which had never climbed anything about 10000ft. We had a perfect day with great weather and views. Around 2:30, right before getting back to the trailhead, we saw a few snowflakes, but then it cleared up again.

The conditions on the trail are good. However, it gets a little treacherous during the afternoon when the snow on the trail gets slushy.

Lost Rat is an awesome route! Everything was sunny, but oh man, was it windy on the ridge and summit! My first glissading experience was excellent. Thanks to Chris and the dudes from Wyoming for helping me dig out my truck.

Route Climbed: Stevens Gulch Trailhead Date Climbed: June 30, 2004  Sucess!

Somewhat cold at the top, rained the last mile down, and zero visibility.... bummer. But of course a hike is always a hike, and that's always good:-) Followed it with the saddle to Torreys.
