Grays Peak Trail
I climbed this one solo. Nice day strait forward easy trail. Rough drive up from I-70 on the dirt road. Followed up by summiting Torreys via the saddle. Again easy and straigt forward.

Grays and Torreys
The approach road was a real challenge for my motorcycle. I only made it up half way and then hitchhiked the rest. Spent the night just above the tree line in Stevens Gulch. Moments after I got into my tent, there was a major hail storm. The next morning I did Torreys first and then Grays. See my Trip Report about doing seven 14ers in eight days.

Made it from Torreys to Grays in about 25 minutes. There was A LOT of people at Grays, and even more making their way up to the summit. Good views. Down to the car in about an hour or so.

from Torreys/Kelso Ridge
Made a big loop on a bluebird day by going up the south ridge of Kelso, across Kelso Ridge to Torreys, over to Grays, down the south ridge of Grays to Ruby. Long day but avoided the huge masses of people on the trail. Counted 119 people between Torreys and Grays! The knife edge on Kelso is fun, but too short!

Standard route. Really cold for July and lots of people for a Thursday. Still, a very fun day even getting blasted with a wind driven "wintery mix".

Left Los Angeles airport on Friday and climbed Grays and Torreys on Saturday. Lots of dogs.

Nice day on Grays
The road to the trailhead really can't be called a "road" It's more like a training ground for trench warfare. We were lucky to hitch a ride up and down. The trail itself is great. Grays is a great workout and is an easy combo with Torreys if you afford yourself the time to do it.

Lots of dogs
Up the standard trail from Stevens Gulch. Rental car wouldn't make it, but hitching a ride was easy. After four days hiking in CO, I'm beginning to think that almost all the locals owns a dog or two, and brings them on the trail. Kinda fun. I wish I had my dog, too. She would love this stuff.

It's Worth It
Conditions were great. The best glissading of my life off the saddle of Torreys and Grays. A very fun climb!

From TorreysDown standard trail and back to Bakersville. My estimate was that over 100 people climbed or attempted Grays that day and this was a Thursday.

Highest point thus farWent late to avoid the crowds because it didn't look like t-storms. We were right and didn't see a person above 12k feet. Nice afternoon.
