Green Dry Mountains | [ Sizes: Orig | Large | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
In the Suche (Dry) Mountains, the beeches are surprisingly green in May: an easterly view, towards the mountains around the Kłodzko Basin. Comments[ Post a Comment ] | Tomek Lodowy | marvellous green | |

Hasn't voted | Yep, a real sea of green - soothing. A bit like Ireland? Or not cloudy enough?
Cheers

Voted 10/10 | Ireland ? please... definetely not cloudy enough, you won't find such forests here and so on... It's so great I haven't left the house for the whole weekend, so feel lucky to have our mountains just stone's throw away from yourself!
Man, you can't imagine how much I dream of going hiking to some Carpathian ranges nowadays...
Cheers from Dublin

Hasn't voted | Cheer up Tomek! Time and distance are relative. A thousand miles for a falcon can be less than a stone's throw for a lame grasshopper. Especially if the falcon can relax on the plane :) | | Posted May 18, 2009 3:24 pm |
| lcarreau | It looks a bit too green | |
Voted 10/10 | to be anything BUT the Carpathians!
Its hard to make a comparison, when the object being compared is etched into your mind; like a traumatic event you'd like to cast out of your mind and deposit into a clear blue mountain lake.
This is a green scene that should be heard
as well as seen, because it sends a unique
message to us all - that of peace & tranquility ! | | Posted May 17, 2009 11:52 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Why (on God's Green Earth) do they call them
the "Dry Mountains ???" | | Posted May 18, 2009 9:28 pm |

Hasn't voted | A good question, thanks for asking, Larry. They're of old, hard, quite impermeable volcanic rock, which results in steep slopes and dry valleys. You just can't find a decent spring with drinkable water in these mts although there is a little mud along the way. Still they're really as green as in the pix, the reason – besides the annual rainfall of up to 0.9m – is probably the snow lasting relatively long. | | Posted May 19, 2009 2:39 am |
