Re: ?We saw this one somewhere north of Jackson Lake. We've seen another, much bigger one at Flagg Ranch. Both were from the safety of our car :-)
We've done some pretty remote hikes up there, but haven't seen a bear then, only many tracks :-). Only one during a hike in the Lamar Valley in Yellowstone.
There were a lot of bears low in the valley in Grand Teton at the beginning of june because there was to much snow for them more uphill.

Oh ya....While climbing in the Tetons I could not get any sleep each night just thinking about running into one of those on the trail up/down. When climbing I must admit I have a fear of Bears....aggresive or not. While climbing the Middle Teton I carried 2 cans of Bear Spray. When asked why I had 2 cans I told them...."for the 2nd bear dumbass". Saw lots of bear tracks up there but got lucky enough to run into just deer and an angry moose. The moose bluff charged us in the dark near the Lupine Meadows trailhead and I have never come so close to pulling the trigger on the Bear Spray before!!! Luckily moose do not like 2 people yelling at the top of their lungs. Talk about spooky!!!!
Happy Trails out there.

Hey man!Would you mind if I used this picture for the Grand Teton page? I will credit the photo to you. I need a picture for wildlife and this is a pretty good one.
