Re: Muttenhorn= sheep's horn?

According to my data, the Gross Muttenhorn is located in a sub range of the Alps called the Adula or Lepontine Alps. This range is located along the Swiss Italian border to the east of the Penine Alps and to the south of the Urner Alps (which are the next sub range west of the Bernese Alps).

I can find no translation for "Mutt" or "Mutten" from German to English, so I assume that it is a place name of some sort. I know that it is not the word for sheep.

Perhaps one of our German speaking members could help us on this.
