Grouse Lake was just beginning to thaw in May 2010, seen here with Munger Peak in the background on the left and Goat Mountain rising in the background to the right

Re: Very nice

Thank you Tim! It was perhaps ideal, consolidated snow up high adding to the scenery, melted out on the approach, and very cooperative weather.

Re: Beautiful!

Love the compliment Eric! This one took some waiting around, for the sun drop down a bit for better light, yet not behind the clouds. I was really happy with this spot once I found it.
Thanks, Chad

Re: Congrats...

Thank you so much Marc, my first one. And I'm mostly glad folks have enjoyed looking at it. When I saw the snow on the rocks in the foreground I new this would be a nice one... once the light started cooperating.

That Granite Pass area is a beautiful area.

Good to see what it's like up there now. Wonder how deep the snow is around the Yos Val rim? Great POTD!

Re: That Granite Pass area is a beautiful area.

Thanks Noondueler. It's wonderful up there right now. The snow is in great shape- not sure about Yos Val, maybe I'll get the chance to find out in a couple weeks...

Congratulations!

Your first POTD! And a well deserved one on top of it! Nobody can say here that it has nothing to do with photographic quality! :-)
Cheers,
Eric

I know, I know ...

Hate to bring up the theory of "Global Warming," but this looks much more like
"Global Cooling" to me !!

And .. oh well, it gets 10/10 anyway.
I missed this when I worked at Sequoia NP in
the 1990s.

Thanks Larry.
Well, the lake was melting. So maybe both. Thank you for looking!

Very nice!

Congrats Chad. Well deserving... many of your other, recent photos from that trip could have made it, too. They are all beautiful. Cheers, Guido

Re: Very nice!

Thank you so much- appreciate that. Yes, I got lucky with some nice ones from last weekend, when I was taking them I thought the one with the tent might be best. This turned out to be my favorite though...

Drool!

You sure know how to capture a scene that inspires one to brave the cold to see something similar 1st-hand. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Drool!

Thanks Kris! If this inspires folks to go out more that's the best thing. Going a little outside the normal season is always rewarding too. I had great weather, and without wind it wasn't really even that cold.
