Gully on Tabernacle Dome

Gully on Tabernacle Dome

There are several gullies you might explore as possible starts to the northwest ridge route. This dry fall is the crux of the gully I selected. It's 30 feet high and slopes at 45 degrees. I was just barely able to scramble up it in my hiking boots, and then pulled my pack up after me. I felt more comfortable rappelling down. The anchor was somewhat shaky, so if you do descend this way, triple-check it for safety. Tabernacle Dome, Zion National Park, Utah. photo by brianhughes on April 30th, 2007
