South Gulley Direct  Sucess!

Bruce and I climbed this fun route in about 7.5 hours car to car yesterday. Snow conditions varied from powder over crust to hard crust and neve to wallowing in deep powder near the top. I lead both mixed pitches which were pretty interesting. The travese between the 3 summit towers is cool. Good times.

Cave Ridge Trail  Sucess!

This is a nice short trip. Stay to the left of the lake near the top if you want to keep your hands clean. Go right if you want to do some easy scrambling. After reaching the north summit, we back tracked a few feet and descended the gulley described in the "Climbing Information" section of this page. We agreed that the scramble back up to the middle summit looked like 4th class, so we didn't attempt it without a rope.

North Ridge  Sucess!

Done with a small OSAT group as a combination with Snoqualmie Mountain, from the Alpental approach. This day brought me to within 39 feet of my first 100,000 vertical year (eventually accomplished on Mt. Si in November.)

I 90  Sucess!

Something I didn't like about climbing a rock and being able to still see a major interstate. I like being a little farther away. But we brought the kids & they liked it. Gave us all a good workout!

Northwest Route  Sucess!

Started early and finished the climb in two hours. Took the wrong gully down the backside which made for a more eventful descent then the ascent. Still a very fun climb and easily simul-climbed. Came back the next day to do the improbable traverse but got rained out. Gotta love the cascades.

Route Climbed: Improbable Traverse Date Climbed: August 20, 2005  Sucess!

The weather was going to be nice once again but I wasn't sure if I could convince Jim for another long weekend trip so late Friday we converged on a day climb on Guye. We were glad to be the only ones on the route as twice rocks came flying down by us, hmm better get out of here quick. The traverse was exciting and really the only climbing, the rest was scrambling over loose rock and through trees. The views from the summit were very nice with many inviting peaks, wish the rock quality was better in the area.

Route Climbed: Improbable Traverse Date Climbed: August 20, 2005  Sucess!

Climbed this with Haydar as a quick one-day trip from Portland. The climbing is less-than-stellar, with loose rock and sections of scrambling in the trees. The traverse pitch was fun, but really the only quality pitch. If I come back I'll try the direct route to Lunch Ledge - maybe that adds more climbing. Will I be repeating this route? Hmmm ... I'd say improbable.

Threw this in along with a climb of Snoqualmie. Only went to the north summit. How DO you get from one to the other? Near the beginning of the trail up was the smallest cairn i had ever seen.

Soloed up to the North Summit before work today... Didn't scramble over to the others due to time, but the views were amazing, and quite theraputic. Good times.

Route Climbed: Cave Ridge Date Climbed: October 8, 2000  Sucess!

A short, steep hike from the Alpental parking lot. This route starts at the climbers trail about 50 yards to the right of the Snow Lake Trail. Approximately two miles to the summit. Nice views of the surrounding peaks and a great overlook for the Snoqualmie Pass and Alpental ski areas.
