Quick moving clouds limited visibility off of this bald near Carbonate Peak in the area of the Great Sand Dunes National Park.

I like this image; very surreal quality to it.

My son and I were just at Great Sand Dunes a couple weeks ago. We hiked High Dune and Zapata Falls before heading up to Black Canyon of the Gunnison. --mark d.

Thanks Mark! I really enjoyed looking at your shots from GSD - beautiful. I was there during summer of '04 and would love to go back and spend more time. While I was there, I did see Zapata Falls and continued up to South Zapata Lake - it's a steep 4 miles but highly recommended.

Oh man! I would have loved to hike further up, but it was on the trip to Zapata Falls that my heel spur started acting up. Ouch! I could barely hobble back to the truck and spent the next day walking pretty lame! Fortunately, it felt better after another day and did not prevent hikes of Green Mountain at Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Mt. Evans.
