two fellows on the trail above Sheep Lake on our way down from He Devil. They were on their way up and had a copy of this map downloaded from SP as one of their references for the ascent.

I notice you took the slot between Baal and Babel, straight up from Sheep Lake (and pond), instead of the more traditional drop to Sheep Lake and up the `Slide'. My daughter and I have also come up that slot (I call it Baal Slot) in search of a more direct (`higher') traverse to the Cannon and Hanson drainages. We started in the very bottom of the slot - which was quite hairy. Once we broke out onto the more solid face to the west, things went better. The thought of not losing all the elevation dropping into Sheep Lake was attractive, and also avoiding the loose stuff at the top of the Slide.
