Headwaters of the Bear

Headwaters of the Bear

My nephew Shane looks intently at the headwaters of the Stillwater Fork and the Middle Basin area. This photo was taken in June and those higher elevations were not accessible at that time due to heavy snows. On this day we hiked up the eastern side of the glacial morraine to get a view of our surroundings. After our morning summit we headed back to camp where a breakfast of pancakes and eggs was waiting for us. Its tough to be the camping lifestyle.

Nice Pic

Among other Uinta places, I have been up to Amethyst Lake and camped at Lake BR-24. Beautiful. The Uintas are definately the best unspoiled and undiscovered mountain chain in Utah and maybe the country. The Tusher's notwithstanding. :)

Wow!

A lovely shot of a fabulous area. I certainly hope the government will someday enlarge the High Uintas Wilderness!
The fact that there is no national park status for the Uintas has always been an enigma to me. I know there are those who have misgivings about national park status because of increased visitors, but there are national park wilderness areas in places such as Sequoia and Kings Canyon... it can work.
