Heartbeat Peak  Sucess!

After work and with a pretty late start, I climbed Heartbeat Peak, reaching the summit just before sunset. It was a nice climb with good views and the sunset on the way down was spectacular. I watched the sunset with a marmot that seemed to enjoy the sunset as well.

Icebox Express  Sucess!

Found great conditions on the route Roach calls Icebox Express (above Iceberg Lakes). Short snow climb, 500 feet. Mostly mellow with a 50ish degree exit.

Nice long day  Sucess!

Started from East Portal and hiked up to the Divide, following it over the summits of Heartbeat and Sprint, then dropping west into the valley and up Epworth and then back into the valley, back up to the Divide and the summit of Beacon, and then back down the east side of the Divide and back to the car.

Via Rogers Pass  Sucess!

The day started out nice. So I followed the ridge over to "Sprint" Peak and "Beacon" Peak for a little more. The dark clouds moved in and that was it for the day.

Rogers Pass  Sucess!

Hiked the old 4wd road from Riflesight. My wife and two dogs came along as well. Great views with an inversion layer over the Winter Park area. Also hiked Mt. Epworth.

A Warm Heartbeat for Valentine's  Sucess!

Temperatures at start of day were -11F in Golden, -17F in Boulder. But it was warmer up in the James Peak Wilderness. Little wind and no precipitation made for a surprisingly comfortable day. Deep snow erased trail forks. After losing the trail, soft snow made the going slow in places. Five hours to summit from Moffat Tunnel East trailhead. Went with Chris R (not an SP member).
