Wow

Amazing shot of a glacier park icon. I've spent a lot of time staring at those huge slabs from the highline trail, I know what I'm climbing this summer.

Finally

So, I don't look at my photos of Summit Post too often, let alone respond. Thanks for the compliments. In answer to your questions, yes that is the real angle and yes that is the last bit of the normal route up Heavens. A couple football fields of slab. How many of you have done it since posting your questions?

Re: Finally

Tried climbing it via this exciting route in August this past year, but we were unsuccessful. Our day was plagued by thick clouds and intermittent rain, but our group plowed up the mountainside and were able to reach the large slabs featured in your photos. However, after negotiating some sketchy snow fields, we found the conditions on the slabs to be far too slippery for us to safely continue. A break in the weather on our descent gave us our first partial view of the summit all day, and it looked like we were painfully close to the top. Oh well, live to see another day! Impressive, impressive mountain!!!

tremendous

when we were up there in the late 90's there were huge chunks of snow strewn about. What a other worldly spot!

The Limestone Parking Lot

I have a good old pic from a July 1989 climb of Heavens. This pic has an accurate depiction of the angle that the slab presents. Wet rock is definitely an issue when crossing it!
