Agreed.Third Lake is one of the finest camp spots I've ever had the pleasure of.

Re: Agreed.Unfortunately the impact of climbers and backpackers by the lake is very noticeable. I came across an illegal campfire ring filled with trash and ashes. There is an American flag attached to a tree branch along one of the lake's shores (WTF!?). We found and took out some other misc. trash. This is very sad...
BTW, congrats with bagging Starlight! This is a fine peak

Re: Agreed. One of my hobbies when I have some downtime is destroying illegal campfire rings. Remember all the rings in Humphrey's Basin? There isn't even wood up there, for crying out loud!

Re: Agreed.Yup. Unfortunately there is firewood by Third Lake, as you know. The ring that I destroyed was used heavily. The boulder next to it had a 4-5' high burn mark. To add insult to injury, these assholes dumped all their trash in the ring and did not even burn it. This is not Camp 4 for crying out loud.

Re: Agreed. Not sure what to say about one, except that it would be great if some people stayed at home and out of the wilderness and shit in their own nests instead.
Thanks for doing your part, though!

Re AgreedGreat photo! In 2001 we spent 2 weeks destroying as many campfire rings we could find in Humphreys basin. The NPS won't say this outloud too often, but: "WTF? Why is it when people come up here they leave their brains at home?"
