Iceland is sure different from what I thought. Mostly I was thinking about puffins and volcanoes. Looks like the desert in the lord of the rings.

Thanks for the vote. It definitely is full of volcanoes but yeah, the desert was unexpected for me as well. Definitely a "high desert" like here in Oregon though and not like Arizona's.
The first thing I thought was "how the heck to you pronounce that?" And you had the answer in the first sentence! Strange looking rock. I still can't pronounce it, but that's my problem. Nice page.

Ha ha. Thanks. Yeah, I had to ask my guide on Hvannadalshnukur how to pronounce this one. He laughed when I said something that sounded like "Hair-doo-bride".
Where do you find these funky letters on the keyboard? Did you buy an icelandish one? It's a very nice page - but somehow my weather prejudices only seem to deepen. And now there are sandstorms, too!
