here's another example of the...

here's another example of the spring avalanche activity in the wilson area. taken from about 11,600' on trail from ophir to bear creek/telluride on 5-28-03. this huge "run to ground" spring slab dropped over 2000' in the third week of may from a ne face south of the ophir pass road. the county started to plow thru the debris and stopped due to the smaller avalanches that can be seen in the photo - one of which ran just before i took the picture!

yeah , its done, and they just moved the bulldozer over to the tomboy road. i'm gonna ride up tomboy today to see what progress they are making toward imogene pass.

nice, I will be down there June 25-27 and was thinking of driving up Imogene Pass, but I didn't know how much snow there would be blocking the road. Keep me informed. Glad to here that Ophir is open since I plan on hiking on the Silverton side.
