We were able to drive two miles up Sibley Creek Road and the weather and snow conditions were perfect for snowshoeing. The skies were clear enough to make out the outline of Rainier 120 miles to the south!

After a failed attempt in December due to a foot of snow dumping on the mountain while we hiked, we made it up on the second attempt! The snow plow stopped before MP 8 so we had to hike 2 miles up Cascade River road road and switch backs up to the west ridge.

We had to snowshoe 9 miles/5700 ft. elevation gain to reach the top. We started the hike at 9am and got to the lookout at 6:30pm. The 360 panoramic views of 8,000 ft. peaks, Mt. Baker and the nice an warm cozy lookout made it all worth while!

Two skiers had arrived the day before. We all shared the lookout. It was a balmy 60 degrees inside with the duraflame logs we hauled up there.

I wanted to reach the summit the next morning, but the fog rolled in and we couldn't see more than 20 ft., so we headed back down.

Climbed with my buddy, Bill. Going to have to write something up on this one. Scrambled to the true summit and on the way down saw every straight male climber's dream. God bless women like that.

Text book example of a perfect hike in the North Cascades!
Don't forget to take advantage of those excellent rock scrambling opportunities on your way to the true summit!

Headed up there to help out with some general maintenance of the lookout. That was the destination so I do not think I actually summited the main "Hidden Lake Peak". I did however scramble up to the highest point there at the lookout. I love that lake!

The first time we went up the high point and descended/glissaded down the slope to meet the trail lower down. then in '10 went up the lower peak with the fire lookout.

Took my Mom up this hike for a change in scenery, as I lived in the Diablo/Ross Lake region of the North Cascades National Park for the past year and hadn't explored as much up the Cascade River Road. Hidden Lake Peaks lookout was amazing. Spectacular day with a short, but scenically varied trail. I loved reaching the upper boulder fields with the streams passing through the trail. Amazing. I'll do it again for fun someday soon!

How many times have i driven past this trailhead on the way to Cascade Pass? Nice little climb/boulder hop with the Mazamas. Lovely day with a turn in the weather lurking in the air.

We took advantage of modest snow levels for December and drove to the last switchback on the road. Walked the road, then the trail, then into the drainage. There was evidence of large avy activity already this winter in this drainage but those dangerous slopes were now mostly bare and it was cold which made us relatively unconcerned on this day. But in general this could be a risky area. Hoofed it up the drainage, traversed S for a bit and then hit the ridge at 6200. Hiked up the chilly ridgeline to the top. Fantastic views on a clear cold winter day. Too bad my camera died in the cold. Great hike. Snow conditions are crappy with hard snow, ice, wind scoured crust. No need for snowshoes but we used crampons and axes.

I also visited the lookout site in summer around maybe 2005.

I climbed this peak way before I knew what SP was- back in the summer of '03. Other than the unsightly gash that the trail cuts across the side of the hill on the way up, the views are just amazing.
