Climbed the tower only to find no windows or view at the top...just hot air

The official park entrance was closed when I arrived at 7:30 am, so I backtracked to the Steely Kill Lake boat access/parking lot and hiked up to the high point from there. I followed a blue-blazed trail along the lake and into the woods, then turned right onto a red-and-green blazed trail which led me to a park road that took me to the high point. The obelisk was also closed, but I had the summit to myself. It was windier than I'd expected.

Hiked solo on the AT from Rt 23. Great views from the summit, and had to race back to car when storm clouds could be seen rolling in from PA.

Clearer Day
Summited first time Fathers Day 1993. Foggy day so missed out on the views. Much clearer day this time around - a nice visit for sure however it was crowded
I grew up in New Jersey and don't know the date we visited the park and climbed the tower. I think I need to go back and get an official picture.

First of Fifty
First state high point attempted. Headed up there with Gramps and both of our cameras in tow. Great weather and off the mountain in time for breakfast at the diner just south of the park.

A great weekend
The start of a great weekend… summited New Jersey on a cool spring day… then off to Franklin NJ for the Super Dig at the Sterling Hill Mine (very cool fluorescent minerals). A nice little jog to the top and some great views from the obelisk at the top.

1st E. Coast HP
Started at Deckertown Turnpike (hwy 650) and hiked the AT to the turn off the the HP, took that to the monument and back, and then took the other loop (red?) from the visiter's center back to the start, 15.1 miles total.

We visited first thing on the morning after Tropical Storm Andrea had passed through the night before. We had the park to ourselves except for the birds and little furry creatures that were stirred on such a beautiful, fresh morning. This is a special place and we are so happy to have visited it. Our best HP experience yet.

High Point #26Very muggy and hot day. I climbed the 22 stories to the top of the monument. That was harder than the hike up the AT to the high point.
