Five new sign posts were erected at the Iowa state highpoint. The signs point to each of the other 49 state highpoints, listing the distance to each. July 25, 2009.

There is no way....

that Gannett Peak is 579 miles further away from Hawkeye Point than Granite Peak!

Good catch. I didn't look at it that closely. I didn't map it either, but perhaps this is driving miles vs "as the crow flies"...
