Hiking Down Cadillac Mountain

Hiking Down Cadillac Mountain

My son, Curtis (cdoiron on SP) hikes down the Cadillac West Face Trail on Cadillac Mountain (1528 feet) in Acadia National Park, ME. This 1.4 mile trail from Bubble Pond to the summit is about one-half a steep, rocky hike with a few class 3 moves required, and with the remainder mostly a walk across large slabs of granite. What's shown in the image is actually one of the easier parts of the steeper section. Imaged in July 2010.

Class 3

Do you have any pics of the class 3 parts? this pic is class 1.

Re: Class 3

Sorry, no, I don't. But I'd call this section class 2 (it's not a bicycle trail). The class 3 was in short stretches where it was necessary to use your hands for more than keeping your balance (or, more correctly, it was necessary for ME to use my hands. LOL). --mark d.

Re: Class 3

I edited the caption of the picture (and a couple others, too) to make the trail description more clear. --mark d.
