"Historic photo" (December...
"Historic photo" (December 1992) of the beginning of the approach on Las Cruces from Tlamacas. Pierda Negra is the prominent rock in the center of the photo. Note that the Las Cruces route will actually begin where this photo was taken, but will immediately head left and to the other side of the mountain (not on this photo). Several other more challenging routes climbed the peak just left of Pierda Negra.

Note that all the glaciers in the photo were actually blown away during the eruption, and no longer exist!
