Long MTB ride to near the start of the route. Then took us a night in the face some 500m below the summit. And a long descent via Steinerne Huettl, Knorrhütte, Reintalangerhütte back to Garmisch the next day. Better not believe the old DAV Guide book rating. Route listed as UIAA IV+ in the Panico guide (that fits). Very long, needs stable and dry weather, you need some morale to do 50m runouts at bad belay stations. Very few intermediate fix points. Not extremly difficult but definately serious for its grade. Upper 500m quite loose rock slabs.
"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."
