North face  Sucess!

Nice route up the north face of the Hohe Riffl. The lower part contained quite a bit of snow which made it easy to traverse the Bergschrund. Upper part was beautiful ice, not yet melted away in the summer.

Traverse  Sucess!

From high on the Rifflwinkel glacier, we went up a short snow slope to the NE-ridge, only minutes away from the summit. We descended over the easy S-ridge, which had no snow on it anymore.

Although the weather didn't look all that promising earlier that day, it was quite nice on the summit by the time we got up there, although clouds were covering various mountains around us. We had a break right on the summit, and took a close look at the N-ridge of the Johannisberg, which was our next goal.

A high traverse  Sucess!

from Oberwalder Hütte and Johannisberg to Hohe Riffl, Ödenwinkl and Rudolfshütte. After a thunderstorm in the morning the skies cleared up and we had an excellent day in the high Glockner mountains.
