Had wanted this peak for nearly 5 years. The weather wasn't great but the low lying clouds made for some great views!

Sawatch finisher
Wow, this was my lasr Sawatch, started before 4 am, finished at about 2 pm. This was a great trip and I saw the sunrise alpenglow on the summit right from the Halfmoon Pass. Great Sawatch Finisher.

Did the Tour de Holy Cross in nice weather. Went up the Halo Ridge and down the Halfmoon Pass route. It was a long day scrambling above 13K. Great views of the Bowl of Tears. It was peak 10 on my 13 day trip.

North Ridge to Halo Ridge
Nice day following the North Ridge to the summit, then continuing on to the Halo Ridge. Lake below was a beautiful blue. Took a look at Notch Mountain, but weather was rolling in.

Long but cool hike
Drove to the tailhead after work on a Friday, got up the ridge as it was getting dark and then descended into the valley with headlamps on and found a spot to camp. Next time I think I would skip the camping part, as putting on your big pack and getting back up the ridge after doing the 14er is brutal.
5th time up, this time standard up and down as a volunteer ranger patrol for the Forest Service. The CFI trail work in the boulders between 12/13k is looking good!

With Holy Cross Ridge
Long day. Ascended the standard route to the summit, then continued on the additional mile or so to the summit of Holy Cross Ridge. Returned the same way, bypassing the Holy Cross summit on the return.

2nd favorite Sawatch 14ers
Remote. A slog back up over half moon pass. Great technical alpine route potential on the Angelica Face. A mountain worth multiple repeats.

Big Talus
Great trail with big talus on top. 1,000 feet of gain on the return trip isn't as bad as it's made out to be.

From Fancy Creek TH
Due to Tigiwon Rd closure, I went in from the south. The road just past Fancy Creek was washed out. Packed into Hunky Dory Lake. Reached east ridge of Pt 13,768, went over to Mt of HC, then back to HC Ridge. Came down to Tuhare Lakes - which was a big mistake! Spent a lot of time looking for a passable way down. Beautiful area! But lots of snow begets lots of rushing water.

Awesome route. One of the best hikes in CO. Full trip report found here.
Great summit on the standard route. Next time we'll do the ridge walk around to the hut. Looks like a great loop.

8/7/05 - Halo Ridge route, long and scenic. Descended standard route.
1/29/11 - Backpacked up Tigiwon Road (looooong), past summer trailhead to a camp spot just below Halfmoon Pass. Climbed a slight variation of the standard north ridge route to avoid avalanche danger, particularly getting down to Cross Creek. Big effort.
12/23/12 - Another winter summit. 3 days/2 nights from bottom of Tigiwon Rd. Followed more or less the standard route.
